Top 5 Lifestyle Feng Shui Tips for a Fantastic New Year by Laurie Bornstein

As we herald in the New Year many of us take this time to reflect on the year past and to set intentions for the year to come. The use of Feng Shui can provide us with a deeper understanding and appreciation of our lives and our intentions.

For many of us this is a time for resolutions and resolutions are often focused on things we don’t like: our weight, our relationships, clutter in our home, our jobs or lack thereof, and our balance between work and life, to name a few. This year I’d like to suggest that we shift our focus from New Year resolutions to New Year realignments.

A New Year realignment is an awareness and appreciation for what’s working in our lives rather than a focus on what isn’t. When we focus our thoughts and energy on what’s working, we literally make it bigger.

And when we make the good in our lives bigger, those things that aren’t as good become smaller. When they’re smaller, they become less important and when they’re less important we give them less energy. With less energy they continue to get smaller.

Top 5 Lifestyle Feng Shui Tips for the New Year

  1. Clean your house – literally. When you take care of the space around you, you feel better about yourself and the world reflects your energy back to you…if you don’t like what you’re experiencing, give your house a good cleaning!

  2. Place your bed in the ‘Command Position’. The Command Position is when the position of the bed provides the widest view of the room and is supported by a solid wall. (The more you can see, the safer you feel and when you feel safe you feel supported.)

  3. Celebrate the positive in your life (no matter how small, good things are even better when we notice and appreciate them)

  4. Choose to shift your focus in your relationships away from what isn’t working and embrace what is working. (Changing your thinking and behavior is so powerful, it’s literally enough to completely makeover the quality of your relationship.)

  5. Write an affirmation focused on gratitude and appreciation on a lovely piece of paper and then plant that paper in the soil of a plant (ideally located in the Abundance area of your home). Each time you water that plant visualize the positive in your life growing stronger, more resilient and abundant. (To find the Abundance area of your home).

In the world of Feng Shui you get what you focus on. Changing your focus energizes and empowers the positive in your life – and when our lives are empowered we are too!

Wishing you a wonderful New Year filled with happiness, health and abundance!

4 Wealth Feng Shui Tips To Attract Overflowing Abundance by Michael Lee

If you want to make it big, then you might want to learn a few wealth feng shui tips to help you along. People don’t necessarily believe them, but you’d be surprised at how many of those same people arrange their homes or their spaces in accordance to this unique Chinese system.

Here are a few important ones to help get you started.

Wealth Feng Shui Tip # 1: Have A Clutter-Free Environment.

It’s all about good energy. If your home or your office is always untidy or cluttered, then you need to fix the situation as soon as possible.

Good energy can’t reside in areas with too much clutter. Consider it hitting two birds with one stone. Not only do you get to invite abundance into your space, you can also appease your parents, your family or your co-workers by clearing a few things out.

Wealth Feng Shui Tip # 2: Put Images Or Objects Related To Flowing Water.

According to feng shui experts, images of flowing water are good for abundance. Perhaps the time has come for you to get rid of your abstract painting and put one in that depicts flowing water. Waterfalls, seas and rivers are wonderful examples of what I’m talking about.

Fountains symbolize free flowing money. If you want to enjoy more prosperity in your life, then investing in a fountain is a good idea.

It doesn’t have to be a huge fountain either. There are many small fountains being sold at feng shui stores to choose from. Just as long as you keep the water clean and flowing, you’ll have no trouble attracting money into your life.

Wealth Feng Shui Tip # 3: Don’t Build Your Stairs Opposite Your Door.

Unless you want your wealth to leave your home, avoid renting an apartment or buying a home with that kind of design. The belief sounds insane, but you’d be surprised at how many people actually avoid this trap. I know I wouldn’t make that mistake.

Wealth Feng Shui Tip # 4: Wear More Purple.

Purple is the color of royalty and that alone can attract abundance and prosperity to you. You don’t have to wear it everyday and it doesn’t always have to be your shirt. A purple handkerchief can do the job just as well.

These are just some of the wealth feng shui tips you might want to try for yourself. They’re quite easy to follow and you don’t even need to spend a lot of money at all; in fact, you’ll be attracting overflowing abundance and prosperity into your life.

Get Feng Shui Tips for Wealth by Sanjeev Kumaaar

It is the fact of the life that only those who dream, holds an ability to live those dreams. That almost precisely goes for the wealth aspect of almost everyone’s life. Unless and until, one aspires for it, strives for it, and puts in efforts for it, it is very less likely for one to attain it. However, there are times when even after doing that, entire one only ends up having less than desired. Then there are those whose desires for attaining more money only escalate with the passing time. They tend to associate money with a profound sense of security that they believe to draw out of it.

Feng Shui, the prominent and popular Chinese art and science of energy synchronization offers useful and valuable tips with which one can achieve that. In the beliefs of Feng Shui, the incoming of money is as important as it’s outgoing. Outgoing of wealth create space for easy incoming of wealth. Water is an important aspect associated with the money factor. Therefore, lots of tips revolve around water elements of aquariums, fishes, fountains, and related things.

Feng Shui Wealth Tips

  • Having a birdbath in front of the house is auspicious, more so because it keeps water in current, thus keeping it clean and pure. Make sure that no place has water lying over it in stagnant state. Clean it up quickly, and let the current constantly on.

  • Purple color is auspiciously associated with wealth factor, and therefore, placing anything of purple color, be it a pillow, flowers, or ribbons in the wealth area. Also, prefer to have purple involved in your attire in some or the other way. Also, it is equally auspicious to place bells or wind chimes in the wealth area, as doing so brings prosperity and abundance. Wood is another significant representation of wealth aspect, and therefore placing anything substantial made up of wood is considered to be wealth deriving.

  • Avoid having anything hot and warm in the wealth area. For instance, if fireplace of your house is in the wealth area, try to cool it down by placing more water substances there. Make sure that wealth area is not occupied prominently by fireplace, or is comprised of too many furnace or candles, as that can be the cause of monetary losses or dearth of money.

  • Have Feng Shui fountains in your place, as that is one eminent source of attracting wealth. Other than that, you can have artifacts of water and related things such as seas, rivers, waterfalls, etc. in your place, as doing so draws abundance in the house. Amongst these, those with extra white foam and open landscape views are considered to be further effective.

  • Having your bathroom in the wealth area is believed to be inauspicious, as that symbolically denotes for flushing off all the wealth elements.

  • Make sure to not have your internal stairs right opposite to your front door, as that denotes for departure of money.

  • Keep your place properly organized, and free from all sorts of clutter.

  • Maintain high oxygen levels, for which planting of Feng Shui plants can be an effective option.

  • Citrine crystal is a major source of attracting wealth and enhancing sense of worth, and therefore is prominently used by Feng Shui followers in the form of citrine Feng Shui gem tree and elements of jewelry.

  • Placing pyrite in the wealth area draws positive energies favorable to attract wealth and abundance. It is in particularly recommended to be placed in the southeast bagua area (wealth area) or south Feng Shui area (fame and reputation).

Feng Shui Tips – Three Wealth Cures to Attract Money into Your Home by Andrew James Laycock

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese method of balancing and harmonizing the energy in your environment to attract abundance and good fortune to your life. Although the practice predominantly seeks to find an overall balance in your environment, if there are certain specific desires you have in your life you can apply a quick enhancement to the area of your home which represents this desire. These enhancements can work as a quick energy boost and may well work wonders in the area of your life which you are wanting to improve.

In my experience one of the most popular enhancements people want to make is to attract more money in to their life. Many people would appreciate a little extra money through their door and so in this article I will share with you three of my favourite wealth cures.

My favourite wealth cures

The Box Cure

To implement this cure place a small wooden box in the wealth area of your home, on a windowsill or shelf is ideal. The wealth area is in the south east area of your home. The box should be rectangular in shape and decorative enough to be visually appealing as once placed in position it should not be moved. Inside the box place a small amount of paper money, then close the lid and visualize money entering the home. It is very important that the money, once placed in the box is not removed.

There are many types of decorative boxes available on the market from a wide range of stockists. I have two such boxes in my own home, one in the wealth area of the house and one in the south east area of the living room. Both these boxes incorporate the wealth colours of turquoise and red and both have patterns that symbolize the number eight, eight being thought of as a very fortunate number in Feng Shui.

The Bamboo Cure

Place 8 bamboo stalks in a tall rectangular shaped glass vase, one which has defined corners as opposed to a vase that is tubular or curved shape. Place the vase in a prominent position in the wealth area of your home, or of a particular room, placing the vase on a piece of red material 9 inches by 9 inches. Bamboo is an all purpose cure symbolizing a strong future so placing 8 stalks in the wealth area is representative of a strong financial future

The Aquarium Cure

If you go in to many Chinese businesses you will often find an aquarium of fish situated just inside the entrance. In Feng Shui both water and fish are seen as a way of increasing prosperity and there are two interpretations of this cure that I am going to share with you.

The first one is to site an aquarium in the wealth area of your home. Ideally you should place eight goldfish in the aquarium as the number eight symbolises money and gold represents value and wealth. Some teachers and consultants encourage you to add a further fish of a different colour, normally black, as this then brings the number of fish to nine and many people consider 9 the best number in Feng Shui.

The second interpretation of this cure is to place the aquarium in the entrance way of your home as this means that wealth is attracted through the front door. Personally I would only encourage this particular siting if the front door faces North as it represents and supports the water element of this area of the home.

Whichever interpretation you take it is important that you keep the fish well nourished, regularly change the water and immediately replace any fish that dies.

I hope that you have found this article interesting and if you want to introduce more money in to the house hope that you will choose to implement one of these cures. I wish you every success and much prosperity.

9 Feng Shui Tips For Your Nursery To Ensure Success From Womb To Room – For Mom, Dad & Siblings by Yarrow Y

The time has come! The long awaited transition from “womb to room” is one you have anxiously anticipated and revered at the same time. Likely you are rushing to complete the final preparations for the nursery, completing projects and stocking up on essentials. The advent of your new arrival definitely ups the vibration in your home and necessitates thinking of ways to bring balance to your life at this exciting time.

The 3,000 year-old Chinese art of feng shui is all about harmony and balance. Paramount to feng shui is the flow of chi or energy and its affects on the environment and the people living there.

The following nine tips will help you create a sacred place and healing space:

1- Location

Choose which room you will use for a nursery wisely. To provide a solid foundation for your baby, do not choose a room located over a garage or a storage area or a room that shares a wall with a bathroom or storage closet. Do choose a room with a window for adequate natural light and chi movement.

2- Preparation

Providing an energetically clear room is essential for your baby. You can accomplish this prior to the baby’s arrival by opening windows, spritzing therapeutic grade essential oils around the room, and wiping surfaces with water imbued with citrus oils.

3- Color

Contrary to the Western decor trends of primary colors in a nursery, feng shui suggests the use of pastels. Paint the walls a soft green, blue or pink and keep the ceiling white. When the walls and ceiling are painted the same color, the energy gets “boxed in” and doesn’t flow.

Choose non-toxic paints and natural materials to improve the air quality in the nursery.

4 – Themes & Motifs

Avoid patterns and graphics with ferocious looking animals and those containing points such as arrows, crosses, triangles or diamonds. Choose “green” or natural bedding, linens and disposable products when available. Overall, babies benefit from soft surfaces and pleasing, subtle patterns.

5 – Furnishings

Keep the furniture light in weight and color. Ensure that there are no sharp points or pointed objects in the room or on the corners of the furniture. Be mindful of furniture used by others. Think about the situation – is the furniture a hand-me-down from a happy person or not? In any event clear the energies of the furniture by wiping it with citrus oil water.

Do place a rocker or comfortable chair in a cozy corner of the nursery to provide the feeling of safety and protection while nurturing your baby.

6 – Lighting

As Goldilocks may have wanted her room–not too bright, not to dim, but just right, soft lighting is beneficial to creating a gentle, stimulating room for your baby.

7 – Sound

Eliminating electrical magnetic fields (EMF’s) by banning electronic items in the nursery creates a soothing environment. Although you may not notice the subtle “hum” of electronics it exists and is known to disturb the energy in the room.

8 – Movement

Mobiles do have their place in the nursery as they provide stimulation for your baby. An auspicious placement is key however to maintaining a restful environment, so do place the mobile over the changing table and not over the crib.

9 – Clutter-free

I saved the number one rule of feng shui for last. Why is a clutter-free environment the “big buzz” you may ask? Clutter creates a chaotic environment, collects dust and causes the energy to become stagnant and negative. Besides if not before the new baby arrives, when will you get your stuff under control?

Overall, remember that bringing your new child home is a holistic event that involves baby, parents and siblings. Practice the ways of feng shui to ease the transition from “womb to room,” and, your home will be blessed with balance and harmony. So breath and “be” the happiness that you want for your new baby.

Energy Increasing Tips (or Nesting, Resting & Living Tips):

For Mom: Store all unfinished projects out of sight so you can devote your time and energy to your new baby and family without the nagging reminder of “should do’s.”

For Dad: Make a check list of tasks that you can help with to keep things running smoothly and place it on the refrigerator for easy review. Having the list ready and visible helps to eliminate the pressure of repeatedly asking how you can help and minimizes the chat about what needs to be done.

For Siblings: Include siblings in the nesting preparations by helping them organize their rooms before the baby’s arrival.

Make Your Home A Better Place With These Feng Shui Tips by Dion Marcelina Ford

Many people experience great difficulty when they attempt home improvement projects, but the process does not need to be as difficult or painful as you might thing. Home improvement can be accomplished by anyone, if you have the right information. This article is meant to guide you through the home improvement process with feng shui helpful hints and tips.

Bedroom Tips

Change up your home with each season. You can give your rooms a lift according to the season, simply by changing a few things. Get new pillows for the couch, and swap out autumn/winter candles for vases of fresh flowers. Change the duvet in your bedroom by replacing a heavy winter one for a light weight one in a bright, summery color.

Adding a new room to your house can recoup from fifty to eighty percent of its cost in increased home value, so it’s definitely worth the expenditure. Consider adding a bedroom if your house only has one or two, or a conservatory off your kitchen so you can enjoy your morning coffee in leisure.

Consider a room addition as a major home improvement. Not only will you add space to your home, but you will significantly increase the square footage and value. The most profitable addition to your home is an additional bathroom, but while adding the bathroom add an additional bedroom to increase the value of your home.

Try to add a room to your house. You may already have three bedrooms and a den, but the den cannot be considered a bedroom since it doesn’t have a closet. Add a closet to make it four bedrooms. That’s an easier and cheaper way to add value to your house.

Instead of adding on to your home to get an extra room, consider using the space that you already have. It is cheaper to add a wall than to add a whole room. If you have some space in your home that is not being frequently used, consider adding a wall to make it into a room that will be used often, such as a bedroom or office.

If you need a new bed, consider buying a loft bed. You can now get loft beds with king sized mattresses and they can be just as comfortable as any traditional bed. The advantage of a loft bed is that it will increase the floor space in a small bedroom.

When buying new furniture for your bedroom, consider buying free standing units. While fitted cupboards and dressers look good and save space, you cannot take them with you when you move. Additionally, free standing units can be moved into different rooms in your house or sold for cash when you want to redecorate.

As you may now be starting to understand, the home improvement process does not need to be as difficult or time consuming as you thought it might be. The important thing to remember is to go one step at a time. By following the bedroom feng shui tips and advice from this article you will help to ensure your home improvement project meets with great success.

Feng Shui Tips for Fast Life Changes by Aisling D’Art

Do you need some quick improvements in your life? One of the most effective–and dangerous–ways to change your life with Feng Shui is to clean and declutter your bathroom.

In fact, you should never completely declutter your bathroom in a single day unless you really want to change your life.

Otherwise, if you have clutter in your bathroom, tidy it a little at a time, once a week or even once a month. Make gentle changes slowly.

There are two overwhelmingly powerful rooms in your home, if you study Feng Shui: Your bathroom and your kitchen are the power centers.

If you think about it, Feng Shui means “wind and water,” and the kitchen and bathroom are where most water pipes are. (Likewise, your garden can be a power center if you have a pond or a stream.)

But, let’s say that you really need to change your life. If you have reached a point where it is time to be ruthless and see broad improvements, even if there is short-term discomfort, Feng Shui has the answer.

Go through every cabinet and shelf in your bathroom, and get rid of everything that you no longer use or need. Old shampoos, expired prescriptions, last year’s suntan lotion, that eyeshadow that never looked right… it all goes out, immediately.

If the grout between the tiles is ugly and stained, clean it. If your towels are faded and sad looking, toss them out. Buy new ones. Is it time to replace the toilet seat? Do it now.

Everything that’s in your bathroom that is no longer useful, or doesn’t represent the life that you want to live must go out, right now.

As you do this, you are symbolically removing everything in your life that doesn’t fully support you.

Please think carefully before you take the drastic step of decluttering and cleaning your bathroom: If you aren’t ready to remove absolutely everything that’s holding you back in life, don’t do this all in one day.

Whether it’s a boyfriend who is merely “okay” but not Prince Charming, a job that you hate but haven’t had the courage to leave, or any other major change that you’ve been postponing, when you clean and declutter your bathroom all at once, your life will change.

If you’re absolutely, positively ready to change your life today, clean and declutter your bathroom. And, for luck, tie red ribbons around the drain pipes to prevent good things from flowing out of your life. Just one loop around each pipe is enough. (Nobody has to see the ribbons. It’s okay if they’re hidden in cabinets.)

But, if you aren’t certain if you want the ho-hum boyfriend (or girlfriend) to leave, or if a job change puts you in panic, clean the bathroom a little at a time. It’s one of two major power centers in your home (the other is your kitchen), and the bathroom is where the smallest changes can make the biggest differences in your life.

Feng Shui can be a powerful force for change in your life. However, for the most dramatic changes in your life–sometimes within hours–clean your bathroom. Try it and see for yourself.

Feng Shui Tips For Spring Time Love by Carole Provenzale

Spring is in the Air! For many of us, it’s a time of new beginnings. We feel more energized, ready to wake up and start a new day. For some of us, we may also feel a lack if something is missing in our lives. And often times, that lack may be LOVE.

From a Feng Shui Perspective, there are some simple, inexpensive things you can do right now to get a new love flowing in….or enhance the love you have now. We look primarily at two areas for this–our bedrooms and the back Right Hand side of our home (or business).

On a Bagua Map, the back right hand side of a home is your “Partnership” area; this area relates to personal as well as business partnerships. We often think in pairs of items in this area…think in “twos.” Two candles placed together, artwork that contains two of anything you love to see: two flowers for example. The Chinese and many other cultures use small Mandarin Ducks here to enhance this area. Mandarin Ducks mate for life and can often be found in a dollar store.

You will also want to think of accent colors of PINK. That doesn’t mean your entire room has to be painted pink, rather think of two pink throw pillows, a pink throw over the bed or incorporating the color into your artwork. When we add a Color to a Feng Shui area we are trying to improve, it enhances what you would like to bring into your life.

These same ideas apply to your bedroom. This is only a place for you and your partner if you have one. Happy pictures of the two of you can hang over the bed and should be placed around the room. Plants, in ANY area, give your space good energy or “Chi.”

What to do if you don’t have that special person just yet? Create one! Carefully cut out a picture of yourself and add a silhouette of another person who will be right beside you. Think of all the attributes you’d like this person to have: honesty, loyalty–whatever traits are most important to you and write them on the back of the silhouette. Paste them together but do NOT put them in a frame just yet. Frames will “lock in” the Energy. Since we don’t have this special person just yet, we don’t want to block it with a frame.

The most important thing in Feng Shui when changing your environment is the INTENTION you put in to what you want to create. Remember you are working with Energy and remember to infuse your energy in your thoughts and whenever you do make a change. Think of the intended outcome–in this case a new or enhanced love.

One last thing to remember in Feng Shui: We often use “moving objects” to move something IN to our lives. This can be as simple as a plant (which grows), a lava lamp, or kinetics. Please remember when that new person comes in, it’s time to move that object to another area—or it just may move back out!

10 Useful Feng Shui Tips to Bring Love and Warmth Back in Your Home by Nick Mutt

Many husband-wives spend all their time fighting each other. This not only affects their marriage life but also have a bad effect on their children. In this article you will learn how Feng Shui helps in bringing warmth and love back in your home.

Examine your bedroom. Is it full of color or does the room give you a feeling of warmth and comfort? Are the walls painted red or bright yellow? Write down all the observations of your bedroom.

1. The walls should be painted a nice, soft, romantic color. Green and blues are good for the bedroom.

2. Replace the bed sheets with new soft linen. Pink and green are great colors to open your hearts for better communication.

3. Place your bed against a wall, farthest from the door.

4. You and your spouse should have a good view of the door.

5. Have a minimum of two pillows on the bed. Pillows should always be in multiples of two.

6. Locate the southwest corner in the bedroom. Decorate it to symbolize growth and harmony in your relationship, such as photo of you and your spouse.

7. Go to all the southwest corners in the home and see what all lie in corners. Are they vacant or filled with clutter? Clean out all the southwest corners and place a vibrant plant or objects in pairs.

8. Organize and clean the front entrance. Have a meandering path to the other areas of the home. If the hallway is filled with chaos and unfinished projects, it will most likely spark friction.

9. Organize and clutter free the entire home. Invest in a house that’s cleaner, if time is an issue.

10. Play soft music or nature sounds. Have a CD player that can continually repeat the music while you are not at home. The sounds will permeate through the house and give you a welcome as you enter.

If the home is relaxing and comforting, there will be fewer fights and more discussions of your problems.
